about Marina Zárate

She is scattered and messy, but still diligent and creative. Marina works hard to achieve the best end product.

Marina Lisa Zárate studied at Califonia Polytechnical State Univeristy in Pomona and received a B.A. in Fine Art in 2016. From her fine art and illustration work to her part-time experience in customer service and full-time educator, Marina has found a bridge between creativity and human connection. Her creative work may seem personal but can become open-ended conversations anyone can relate to. Both paintings and illustrative designs use motifs that are often found in Japanese kawaii (cute) and otaku (nerd) culture such as consumerism, maximalism, and pastels and bright colors but still have an underlying theme related to mental health. She hopes to use her artistic abilities to help advocate for the community.
